Hailing from California and with a vocal style firmly rooted in jazz comes Michelle Amador, the latest artist to grace the grooves of a Sick Trumpet release. Production on Because of You comes from Zed Bias and remixes from Osunlade, Atjazz and Daco, meaning this rare soul talent is in safe hands. Back in 2004, Dave Jones aka Zed Bias was lecturing at the Red Bull Music Academy in Rome. It was here he met Michelle and her co-writer on this track, sax and flute player Graeme Blevins. Three years later the trio have collaborated to create 'Because of You'. On the original take of Because of You Michelle Amador sings a sassy lament to her lover who has captured her heart. The jazzy delivery from Ms Amador rides over bumping electric rhythms and basslines in a track that will get hips swaying and hands waving on the dancefloor. Osunlade takes Michelle for a boogie in a dark basement on his Yoruba Soul treatment. Slow enough to be sexy, but quick enough to keep feet moving, the Yoruba beats and acid basslines take you late into the night and deep into the groove. For the Atjazz Astro Mix of Because of You the consistently forward-thinking British producer fuses electronic sounds with a bossa sway. In touch with the jazz element in Michelle's distinct voice, Atjazz is sensitive to the song on his deeper interpretation. Daco, a player on the Manchester scene who is currently working with The Elektrons, takes the track back to the funk with some bumping breaks, bass guitar, soothing keys and soaring strings. If you find yourself at a block party, this is the version you need.
